Community Guidelines

Effective Date: November 20, 2025 Last Updated: November 20, 2025

Welcome to CareWinners, LLC — a Virginia-based online marketplace connecting families ("Care Recipients" or "Clients") with independent, background-checked caregivers ("Care Providers" or "Helpers") for non-medical in-home care, such as senior support, childcare, or task-based assistance. We are not an employer, agency, or insurer—Care Providers/Caregivers are independent contractors, and Care Recipients/Careseekers may have household employer obligations under Virginia and federal law.

These Guidelines reflect our core values of compassion, kindness, and safety. All users must comply with them, our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and applicable laws (including the Virginia Human Rights Act and VCDPA). Violations may result in account suspension or termination. Report issues tosupport@carewinners.com. We may update these Guidelines; continued use constitutes acceptance.

1.

Know Your Obligations

  • Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, including Virginia wage/hour rules (e.g., $12/hr minimum wage in 2025), tax reporting, and household employment requirements (see Virginia Employment Commission resources at vec.virginia.gov).
  • As a Care Recipient, you may be considered a household employer—responsible for payroll taxes, workers' compensation, and overtime. Consult a tax advisor or IRS Publication 926.
  • Adhere to any Care Services Contract between you and a Care Provider/Caregiver.
2.

Represent Yourself Honestly

  • Use your legal name and provide accurate, complete information in profiles, postings, and interactions.
  • Avoid misleading content; all shared materials (text, photos) must be original and non-infringing on intellectual property rights.
  • Do not impersonate others or create fake accounts.
3.

Respect All Members of Our Community

  • No discrimination: Treat everyone with dignity—prohibited conduct includes harassment, bullying, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy), age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, military status, or ethnic origin, per the Virginia Human Rights Act (§ 2.2-3900 et seq.). Report suspected violations to support@carewinners.com.
  • Respect boundaries: Limit physical contact to necessary care tasks; comply with requests for masks, gloves, or precautions.
  • Communicate professionally: Use the platform only for care-related matters. Show up on time, notify promptly of changes, and avoid wasting time.
  • Treat property respectfully: Handle homes, vehicles, or items as your own; return them in good condition.
4.

All Community Members Are Entitled to Their Privacy

  • Early interactions are de-identified—do not attempt to uncover identities.
  • Protect personal data: Avoid sharing sensitive info (e.g., addresses, SSNs) publicly. Exercise VCDPA rights via privacy@carewinners.com.
  • Obtain consent before photos/videos of others (including care recipients/Careseekers). No secret monitoring (e.g., cameras without notice), per Virginia privacy laws.
  • Limit questions to care-related topics; respect off-limits personal inquiries.
  • In homes/vehicles: Do not access private devices, documents, or spaces without permission.
5.

Safety Is Everyone's Responsibility

  • Conduct your own vetting: While we perform background checks (via Checkr), they are limited—interview, reference-check, and ensure mutual comfort.
  • Maintain safe environments: Homes/sites must be hazard-free, sanitary, and free of illegal items; secure firearms/weapons.
  • Arrive unimpaired: No alcohol, marijuana, illegal drugs, or impairing substances (prescribed or not) during shifts, per VOSH safety standards (§ 40.1-49.4).
  • For emergencies: Care Recipients arranging for others must provide reachable contacts and remain accessible.
