Community Guidelines

Learn what to expect as a participant on the CareWinners platform as a Care Recipient or as a Helper.

CareWinners is an online platform where families can connect with background-checked local Caregivers for task-based or ongoing in-home help for seniors and children. Accordingly, CareWinners has adopted the following guidelines, which reflect its core values of compassion and kindness for all community members, including Caregivers, Care Recipients, and family members arranging care on behalf of loved ones.

Please review the Community Guidelines below before using CareWinners products and services. CareWinners takes its commitments to its community seriously and will enforce these guidelines as necessary. If you become aware of any such violations, please let us know by contacting us at support@carewinners.com.CareWinners reserves the right to update these Community Guidelines from time to time. If you continue to use the CareWinners platform and/or services following any such update, your continued use constitutes your acceptance of such updates.

Know Your Obligations

  • First, it should go without saying, all community members are responsible for complying with all applicable laws, both on the CareWinners platform and otherwise. For Care Recipients, this includes obligations that will apply to you as an employer if you hire a Helper.CareWinners has some resources in our knowledge Center to help you get started in understanding what you will need to do, but it is ultimately your responsibility to understand your obligations as an employer.
  • All community members are also responsible for complying with CareWinners Terms of Service and these Community Guidelines, as well as any requirements in any contract(s) entered into and policies agreed between individual Caregivers and Care Recipients.

2. Represent Yourself Honestly

  • You should create your account for the CareWinners platform using your correct legal name (even if you are a Care Recipient arranging care on behalf of someone else) and should make sure that all information you provide on the CareWinners platform is accurate and complete.
  • Be honest in your job postings, profiles, and interactions with each other, including regarding any qualifications you may have, any requirements for a care position or one-time task you are seeking to fill, and any challenges that may affect the care relationship (such as any language limitations, etc.).
  • Do not share anything that is inaccurate, misleading, or misrepresentative.
  • All content you share through the CareWinners platform, including text, images, or otherwise, should be your original content. Don't post pictures of someone else, pass someone else's content off as your own, or otherwise violate or infringe anyone else's intellectual property rights.

3. Respect All Members of Our Community

  • Be respectful in your interactions with members of our community, both via the CareWinners platform and in other interactions. Discrimination, bullying, harassment and other offensive communications or conduct will not be tolerated.
  • Respect each other's boundaries—physical contact should not be necessary, other than when necessary for the limited purpose of providing care. If you are asked to wear a mask or gloves, or otherwise take reasonable precautions, inside someone's home, please do so.
  • Don't waste our community's time—the CareWinners platform should only be used for serious care-related inquiries and interactions. Other communications may be removed. Also, if you accept a care position or a one-time task, show up on-time. Both Caregivers and Care Recipients should communicate any needed rescheduling or cancellations promptly.
  • Respect others' homes and property. If you visit a community member's home to provide care or help with tasks, travel in or operate a vehicle provided by another community member, or are otherwise using anything that does not belong to you—treat it as you would your own. Return anything that has been provided to you for your use at the end of any care relationship, in reasonable condition based on use.

All Community Members are Entitled to their Privacy

  • Some preliminary interactions on CareWinners platform are conducted on a partially de-identified basis. Don't attempt to identify a community member at this stage.
  • Take steps to protect yourself. Don't include personally identifiable information in your profile, descriptions of available care positions or one-time tasks, or messages—especially information that would allow someone to find you off-platform.
  • Community members should not take or use any photos of each other, including any elders under their care, without consent. Cameras should not be used to monitor Caregivers without notice.
  • Refrain from asking community members personal questions that are unrelated to the business of care.
  • While in someone else's home or car, or in possession of someone else's property, respect their privacy—do not attempt to login, look at papers or documents, or otherwise violate their trust.

Safety is Everyone's Responsibility

  • While CareWinners undertakes background checks of all Caregivers when they first join the platform and periodically thereafter, all Care Recipients and Caregivers are also responsible for undertaking their own screening and ensuring that they feel comfortable with each other during the interview process and subsequent interactions.
  • Any home or other site where care will be provided should be a safe working environment, with no hazards or unsanitary conditions, no illegal drugs or other illegal items, and all potentially dangerous items (such as firearms) should be removed or secured.
  • Any vehicle used during care, whether provided by a Helper or a Care Recipient, should be in good working condition, with all required safety features operational.
  • All Caregivers should be able to perform their care responsibilities during their shifts at all times. This should include showing up for their shift without any impairments, including alcohol, marijuana, illegal drugs, or other drugs or substances (whether or not prescribed) that may impact their judgment or job performance.
  • Care Recipients who are arranging care on behalf of another individual should provide contact information where they can be reached at all times and should remain accessible in the event of emergency.
